There are actually three types of Estrogen:

Estrone (E1), Estradiol (E2) and Estriol (E3). There are also numerous metabolites. Compounded Estrogen is usually available in a combination of either all three (Tri-est) or just two (Bi-est) estrogens. As E1 has been associated with cancer in some studies, we do not include E1 in our products. E1 is produced naturally and we do not agree with these studies; however, better safe than sorry! Furthermore, we do not do a traditional 80/20 mix of E3/E2 as will be produced as a by-product of E2. Since E2 is the main estrogen, we produce a low dose E2/E3 combination. Safety first !
